How I punch in a one-sided fight
Been talking to another man who does one-sided fights and is a real master at it - hope to meet him later this year to have him show me what he does - on me. But it makes me think of what a specialty this scene is. One thing I've learned over the years is that in one-sided fights, when you're doing the punching, you get to pick your marks with surgical precision. And if what you and your punchmeat want is to get marked, bruised, bloody, you have to know how to do that without sending him to the Emergency Room.
Here's what I've learned. Have him wear a mouthguard, for sure. (Not only for safety reasons, it makes him look stupid and more punchable ;-) ). I find barefists or really light gloves (like UFC - even SAP if you're careful) the best for one-sided fights. Your fists have more intimate contact with the face that way. Throw a short sharp left jab at the orbital bones of the punchmeat's right eye. (Orbital bones because it's easy to lump up the skin there; also you don't want to hit the eye head-on.) Just to make contact, but also to see what it feels like. Short and sharp so it stings - & will make him lump up a little with the first punch - makes him know you mean business but are just kind of scouting the territory. I love double left jabs - they sort of get the punchmeat in gear, and they're hot to throw. Follow up with a short right to the mouth. Not to the side of the head - (don't punch the ear, which is dangerous). Again hold back a little but make it sting. You're like a sculptor finding out about the stuff you're working with. Short sharp right to the orbital bone of the right eye. Do it again. Again. A left to the mouth. Now you're getting a feel, your rhythm. Your punchmeat, if he's into it, is starting to trust you and to give himself over.
It helps to be verbal. Encourage him, you'll find your own style. Some guys like to be degraded - I'm not into that - but hey, whatever turns him & you on, find a way to make use of it. I like encouraging the punchmeat. "Good boy. You took that nice." I mean, it can get any way you want the verbal part to get. But the point is to make a connection in every way possible. Once you've got a feel for his face, and how your fists feel hitting it, you can start to do a major full job on him. Combinations, always aimed - again, that's what's different about this kind of punching (in a fight you tend to flail and hit whatever you hit) - pick your targets and - WHAP. Be careful of uppercuts. You don't want to break a jaw, or anyway I don't. Come up the side a little - make it a combo hook/uppercut. Try out the nose - bridge of it, full-on - but feel it out first; make it sting but see what he can take. Nothing's easier to see lump up & bleed a little than a fat lip. Give him one. Hit it again. If you're wearing gloves, try to feel your knuckle get as close to the flesh as it can when you throw a sharp punch. That's how to create some very satisfying bruising.
May seem like a leap, but what I've really learned is that a punch can be an act of love.
Anyway, hope this helps and turns you on.

sometimes I go to the west side club (gay bath house in manhattan) with gloves & jocks & mouth guards, most of them spread on my cot, door open, me gloved up & in boots & black leather motorcycle jacket, mouth guard in mouth, waiting to see who's brave enough to come in. Hit the jackpot not too long ago - this hot dark-haired lean guy, younger than me, looked at my 6 oz Everlasts (the last 6 oz pro ones Everlast ever made, I believe), put them on, and shot a nice one-two at my eye and my cheek. I was wearing ufc-style gloves, shot him two back - lip and eye. We alternated throwing two punches apiece (all face punches) until we called an end to it - which I needed to do because I was lumping up pretty radically (my profile pic shows you what I looked like) and, like, I had a life I had to return to. Lumps & shiner went away in a couple days, and we left two happy tomcats. That boy couldn't BELIEVE he'd met someone who wanted to do that with him!
If you're in nyc, and interested, maybe we get something similar going.
