Those life changing moments

I have always said that age is just a number but it’s the recovery that usually longer. Now in my 60’s I still hit the gym 4x week, do my 7500+ steps a day and 3 Bjj classes a week. Eat pretty well and indulge in a drink at the weekend. Fit and can handle most levels of intensity and love the challenge.
While training for the World BJJ Championships in Singapore last week I suffered a heart attack. Thinking it was just the worst case of heart burn and that I was to healthy, I just carried on through the whole class. Drove home and tried several gastric remedies.
Long story short and 3 stents inserted into my heart through I little whole in my wrist, I am fixed a feeling 100%.
The good news is it’s all been very successful and I can return to my passion by the new year. In the meantime, it’s a couple of weeks rest and return with some light matches.

Many I would hate and leaving the wrestling world would be the worst.
Stay say and I am already counting the days to my first comeback.

Incredible story as well as a happy ending. A reminder that none of us Is as invincible as we might think. And for all the effort you put into training and fitness, it served you well to making a quicker recovery. You set a great example for the rest of us!. Keep doing what you love!

Awesome that you're completely candid and can share your experience, perhaps leading by example.
Another man may seek treatment stat if he's read your "changing moments," and you might well be a life saver.
It's good to be reminded we are all mortals.

Great attitude! Glad you’re doing better and soon to be back on the mats. Sending positive thoughts and energy your way. Thanks for sharing, at 63 I’ve been working on my health and fitness, it’s a process slowed by setbacks. Your story and successes give inspiration to keep hitting the mats.

Glad you sought treatment and didnt just shrug it off as persistant heartburn/indigestion or it could have ended up way worse!
Best wishes for full recovery 👍🏻

Something told me to log in and read blog entry’s today. Reading yours reminded me of my scenario a few years ago. Heart attack at the end of playing a rugby game. Glad to read you are on the mend. Stents are life savers and had to have two. Good luck and safe grappling to you.
