Slow build up of intensity provides time for endorphins to kick in, which enables the punchee to take more punishment. A potential drawback is that once the endorphins start blocking pain, it is possible to cause more damage than intended. Sometimes, even when my abs were broken and fists went in deep, I wanted harder hits. That's when it can get dangerous, but maybe not everyone's like me in that regard. If the session goes on long enough, the endorphins fade, and the pain really starts to kick in. I'd allow myself to feel the pain for a while before calling it quits.
Right many thanks. So potentially this could actually cause serious damage to me without knowing initially. That's not what want. I may need then to do some abs training first before letting guys gut punch me.
The way to begin is by really talking with your potential opponent before you meet and establish a clear understanding of what each of you is hoping to get from the experience. You definitely want to be on the same page.
For instance, each guy should know how much experience the other guy has. You should both be clear on how long you want to go and what kind of intensity you each want. Are we pushing limits and boundaries together or are we just getting our feet wet? Are we starting on gloves and going to bare fists from there, or starting with bare fists.
You need to communicate these kind of things with each other ahead of time.
Once you do meet, I also believe in starting slow and checking with each other as the intensity builds. Good luck and have fun!
huge thanks again for your great advice. all taken in. in january i shall be starting and will have videos posted in MF of my gut punching sessions too. cannot wait
Because everyone has their own pain tolerance, I use a 1-10 scale. I punch a guy pretty lightly and ask, what was that in a scale of 1 to 10? 1 being nothing and 10 being unbearable. Then we work up to pleasantly hard and then find the point of the guy’s limit. Of course, the limit can change, as a guy gets more comfortable with it his “7” becomes his “5”.
I often surprise guys when I ask him to hit me, and they think they’re delivering an “8” and I say that was at “3”.
Yeah that's a fairly standard request, you should both feel confident in what role/scenario you are happy with and should respect each others limits and or requests.
Hey guys, although not until Jan when I build up my profile, meeting lovely guys, I do really want to experience being gut punched and have videos of it for MF, but, the overriding question remains, is it reasonable to ask my opponent gut punching me, to first begin very gently and build up on each punch, just in case it is too much for me... I do not want to disappoint, but on the same tone need it to be safe as I don't need a visit to the hospital on my first meets... Any advice for me is greatly appreciated, for the amateur I am I want to get it right to move on in the fun. Thanks. James
