My shin splints no longer feeling like someone is stabbing me. It's a dull ache now. But that means I am out of action for a few weeks.
Totally fucked off but need to recover so I can go back

My diet has goine out the window as I can't do much so eating when bored. Ilat least that is something I can work on as well as stretching now I can move more freely.

I'm supprised at the number of people who have never heard of shin splints. I know it's manly a runner related issue. (I got them when training for a 10k run years ago.)

Had a bit of a massive setback this week.
First session was fantastic - pushed myself really hard and have started to get better at my footwork (doing mma it wasnt as much of a big deal as it is in boxing or at least we never spent the time on it at the MMA club)
Fitness is improving as well.. then came Wednesday... I could hardly walk - I have shin splints - shooting pain in my right shin - so not been able to do much at all this week but rest.

I think its been the leg work - holding my legs and putting pressure on them in a way they are not used to.. while you do get used to it- doing things too hard or quickly before hand can cause problems (I got them when I used to run a lot).
So back next week - but will have to take things a lot easier.

The first session was yesterday.
Week 4 of a 7 week class. Then moving onto the next group before the gym properly.

Im becoming more relaxed in my stance. I'm doing OK with the drills but skipping, ducking etc. I am not sure I have the reflexes to do it properly.

Diet is going well. My fitness is still a lot lower than I would like. But starting to see an improvement.
I am feeling pretty confident in myself usually. Do sometimes doubt I will get fitter but that's because I want instant results. This is something I am going to have to work at and keep persevering.

Well week 2 came and went - Things seemed to get a bit easier but yesterday...

Felt like an uncoordinated blob that would make a 190-year-old seem lively.
There is a number of changes I am making this week.

1 - I am going to get down to about 79kg from 98kg - this will take a while to do correctly. That means recording everything I eat
2 - The 2 classes are not enough to help with general fitness and increasing my strength. I have started a plan to try and increase my core strength as well as stamana.

Today marks the first day - I want to do this and know what my goal is - <note to self> You wont just give up </note to self>

I said as soon as lockdown was over I would start back at a club - so booked myself on a 7 week beginners course
1hr twice a week.

I was a little nervous to start as my fitness has been rubbish since I left the last club due to a motorcycle accident then I got a job where I was traveling across the UK every weeknight.
I have a new role now so can spend time.

The first session - I was knackered - I need to think of ways to build my general fitness - probably going to start riding a few days a week. Once I start I am fine - just struggle to get going.

I really enjoyed myself and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed - if anyone is worried about joining a club - if they do beginners sessions its worth while.

My technique is not the best but I will get there - the 2nd night was just as much fun and I left both nights knackered but buzzing.

I need some tips to help during the other days to improve general fitness - I hate the gym with a passion - find it so boring.
If I want to get to the point where I could do a competition or two - that would be awesome.
